How it all began...
Since our founding 150 years
ago, scholarships have been
a cornerstone of opportunity,
alleviating the financial burden and
providing the support to transform
lives through the gift of education.
Throughout our history we have
relied on the generous support of
donors to fund scholarships. Our
first scholarship was established
in 1878 by The Hon. John Howard
Angas (1823-1904). On October
25th, 1878 bestowed £4,000 upon
the University. His generous gift
aimed to nurture the aspirations
of budding scientists, especially
civil engineers, envisioning
their pivotal role in shaping
South Australia’s future.
Today, the Angas Engineering
Travel Scholarship continues to
uphold its noble legacy, ensuring
that dreams continue to flourish.
