Impact of Giving
Growing a future
in Agriculture
Caleb Schaefer’s love for
agriculture started as a
kid, sitting in the tractor
with his dad and helping
wherever he could.
A third-year Bachelor of Agricultural
Sciences student, Caleb’s early years were
filled with hands-on farming experiences
in country SA, working alongside his
family and learning the challenges of
farming in marginal environments.
“It’s a tough but rewarding way
of life, and it’s where I found
my passion,” Caleb shares.
“I am so grateful for the Show
Society Foundation Scholarship.
It doesn’t just help financially - it
sends a powerful message that the
Foundation believes in students like
me and the future of agriculture. It’s
inspiring, and I’m committed to using
this support to make a difference.”
“This scholarship has been a gamechanger. It’s relieved financial pressures
and allowed me to fully immerse
myself in university life and focus
on my studies while taking part in
activities that have really broadened
my horizons,” Caleb explains.
One standout opportunity was a study
tour across southern Queensland,
where Caleb explored innovative
agricultural practices and gained a
deeper understanding of the industry.
“My goal is to return to my family farm
and drive positive change in the South
Australian Mallee. I want to bring fresh
ideas back to our region and show how
we can adapt and grow, enhancing
sustainability and efficiency. Agriculture
is constantly evolving, and I’m eager to
be part of that progress,” Caleb said.

The Show Society Foundation seeks to provide opportunity and support to students who
otherwise may not have had the ability to further their education in the primary industry sector.
Through the Show Society Foundation Scholarship in Agriculture, the Foundation wants to
contribute towards the education of the future custodians and decision makers in South
Australia’s primary industries, providing a pathway to continued success and future growth
within all fields of primary industry within Australia.”
